Notes

Howard wrote and directed a 16mm film called 'A Few Days' whilst working at The National Film Theatre in 1961/2. It was shown at the NFT in 1962 and acquired by The British Film Institute library. Howard also composed music for the film for flute, clarinet and harp and in 1964 revised some of this music to create a first movement for this Trio, adding new 2nd and 3rd movements at the suggestion of Chappells who also requested that a piano part replace that of the harp. This music was published by Chappell's in 1964 as "Trio for Flute, Clarinet and Piano", see opus numbers 6, 524 and 525. Now published by Chappell International
