Notes

Howard was in Australia for 7 weeks during September/October 1983 as composer guest of Queensland University. While there his new publisher Faber sent him proofs of a complete arrangement of 'The Snowman' concert work for piano which they had commissioned from another composer. Howard did not find this acceptable and volunteered to re-write it, sitting in a tiny garden guest house just outside Brisbane without a piano, finishing it in one week and posting it back in time for the publication date of November 9th in London.
