Notes

Composer's note>

'FAITH ALONE IS OUR SALVATION' opus 724, is a companion piece to an earlier work, 'Faith alone can build a city' opus 438, commissioned by the Archbishop of Canterbury for a performance in York Minster in 1992. As far as I know the work in that form only received that one premiere performance, which was most disappointing. I must admit that the agreed phrase 'Faith alone can build a city' did not altogether make sense and I had often wondered if I might somehow find a way of revising it. In 2021, being offerred the opportunity to create a work expressly for the Salvation Army I was inspired by the word 'salvation' as a solution.
